Clubs & Organizations

All students are invited and encouraged to take part in campus clubs and organizations. Below are a list of clubs and organizations offered at YES Prep Northside.

These are a few student organizations and affinity groups offered on Northside’s campus. Organizations/Groups with a (*) are only offered to high school students.

ACE Club Descriptions

Below are descriptions of the clubs offered through the ACE after-school program. Students MUST register for ACE before they can attend a club. Don’t see a club you like? Contact Kabriea Sinclair to start your own! 

ACE FALL 2022 SCHEDULE

Morning ACE: Students who arrive early to school are encouraged to sign up for Morning ACE! If you’re interested in having a space to play games, draw, create, read, or work on homework then this is the place to be! | 6-12th grade students

Speech & Debate:  Students will learn a combination of public speaking, acting, and arguing in one competitive sport. Students learn to create factual/logical, ethical and emotional arguments to persuade others in the club that their "side" is correct. | 8-12th graders.

Athletic Study Hall: Students will be provided with specialized resources to student-athletes in order to ensure the successful transition from high school to college, acclimating to academic culture, and preparation for life after high school. | 7-12th grade students

Mirror Me: Students will be part of an empowering environment where they can learn to be their authentic selves. Student will learn more about their emotional intelligence and grow into loving who they are | female students in 6-12th grade

ExpressioNS Club: this is a safe and welcoming space for students to express themselves, support one another, and learn more about various identities. | 6-12th graders

National Junior Honor Society: NJHS is a space for students in middle school who exemplify leadership, character, service, and scholarship. Students will participate in local and chapter activities. | 7th & 8th grade students must apply to be in this club

National Honors Society: NHS is for high school students in 11th and 12th grade who exemplify leadership, character, service, and scholarship. Students will participate in local and national chapter activities. | 11th & 12th grade students must apply to be in this club

NS Drill Team: This is the 2022-2023 Northside step/majorette team. Students on this team are responsible for bringing school spirit to all games, assemblies, and student activities. Students must try-out to be on team | 6th-12th grade students

Intramural Sports Club: play games of flag football, soccer, volleyball, and baseball for fun! Students in this club will learn new sports every few months! | 6-12th grade students

Art Club: Students will hone in on their skills, develop their techniques and portfolios, collaborate with other artists like themselves, create bonds with the community through the arts, and learn how to work together through group projects that will beautify the school and community. | 6-12th grade students

Basketball Club:  Students will become educated and empowered in a love for basketball. They will learn how to dribble, shoot, pass, and new abilities to further their knowledge of basketball. |  6-12th grade students

Student Council:  Students will be elected and volunteer working together with an advisor within the framework of a constitution or bylaws to provide a means for student expression and assistance in school affairs and activities, give opportunities for student experience in leadership and encourage student autonomy.  | 6-12th grade students

Black Student Union: This club is a safe space for students to express themselves, support one another and learn about things that affect the Black community. | 6-12th grade students

Sueño LatinX: This club is a safe space for students to express themselves, support one another and learn about things that affect the Latino/a community. | 6-12th grade students

Yearbook: Students will work collaboratively on the Northside’s yearbook, plan page designs, and arrange the pictures taken by a photographer. | 8-12th grade students

Gardening Club: Students will be educated about health, wellness, and sustainability. It will also work on school beautification projects by planting flower beds, upkeep them, learn more about plants, and science of gardening. | 6 -12th grade students

Poetry Club: Students will focus on poetry structure, creation of poetry and other literary arts and their performance such as spoken word and rap. | 6-12th grade students
